In a bid to cut down on refined sugar (really hard when you love baking so much!!) I came across this recipe for a sugar free jam. It’s very easy to make and it tastes really good too.
With this Chia Jam being sugar free it’s a great plus and alternative to regular jam but the mixed berries are great for you too. They have lots of antioxidants, fibre and vitamin C. And then there’s the Chia Seeds. They are full of Omega-3 fatty acids, fibre and protein. So I reckon this little pot of jam is bit of a Superfood!
I have putting it on my Wholemeal Date Scones and I also put on my plain or natural yoghurt for breakfast in the morning.
I’ve been trying out a few healthier bakes lately and I was very happy with how these Wholemeal Date Scones out. They use wholemeal flour and no sugar. There is some natural sugar in the dates but you could leave them out if you wanted to.
Truth be told I have only recently learnt how to make the perfect scone. Mum’s been making them for years so I had a few lessons and now they turn out perfectly.
So what’s the secret? Firstly, the oven has to be very hot so make sure it’s at 220 degrees before you’re ready to put them in.
Work quickly. Have all your ingredients out, the baking tray lined, oven on and at the right temperature. Don’t work the dough too much either. Just bring it together on your work surface and flatten slightly and quickly cut them and get them in the oven.
Also put them all close together on the tray so they are touching. Then when they come out of the oven wrap them in a clean tea towel. Serve warm with some butter or jam and cream.
So that’s how we do it in my family. It does take some practice but once you master it, you can whip up a batch in no time.
As entertaining season is upon us I thought I would share with you another family recipe. This dip is so easy. It only has two ingredients so you can whip it up at a moments notice if you have guests coming over or if they pop in unexpectedly.
It may seem a bit strange I guess to combine the two. I must admit the first few times my mum served it up to me I was a bit skeptical but I love it now and so do my kids surprisingly. Although, they like anything with sour cream in it!
All you have to do is combine sour cream and Sweet Mustard Pickle in a bowl and it’s done.
Hi there and Welcome to bindybee.com!!
I'm Belinda, mum of two beautiful kids, wife, crafter, baker, makeup junkie, lover of fashion accessories and anything pretty and sparkly.
This site started out as a blog to share my recipes and projects but I soon realised that blogging is very time consuming and with two young kids and a part time job unfortunately I didn't have the time.
So, I've decided to turn my site into an online shop. My recipes are still here and I will continue to add more when I can but I'm also happy to be sharing with you some of the beautiful products that I love.
I hope you enjoy my new site. Most products are delivered direct from my suppliers however, some will come directly from me.
Thanks so much
Belinda @ BindyBee.com
